The opening sequence of Casino Royal involves an animated pop art theme designed by Daniel Kleinmen with the use of Daniel Craig in the animation to emphasise his importance as the role of James Bond.
The first title we see is that of the production company EON, followed by the starring cast of the movie the production company being the most important followed by the cast, following the cast the names of the producer and co producer appear David Pope and Andrew Noakes to show their importance after the starring cast, next in smaller font obviously signifying the smaller however important roles include the assistant director, the camera operator, publicity, script superviser etc, after this we are introduced to the editor and then eventually the music director and who it was composed by, the title sequence seems to be in order of importance.
The animation itself fits within the genre of a physcological high action thriller, the pop art theme to it makes the audience look at the twisted pictures of guns and cards, which fits with the title of "Casino Royal" the guns shoot cards instead of bullets, to relate the crime to some form of gambling and signify what the film might be about. Daniel Craig is not animated making him stand out and emphasise him as the main character. The rocky music makes it appear cool and modern attracting a younger audience aswell as an older one, the use of weapons and blood dripping down the screen straight away would attract a male audience and more likely the teenage age group as they would be attracted to violence and the video game like aspect to the title sequence. The animation goes on to include people, and messes around with the idea of targets becoming roulette boards, we also see flashes of real people underneath the animated characters and the use of the colour red signifys blood and violence keeping with the genre of the film. Right at the end we see Daniel Craig in person close up to the screen to show the beginning of the film.
This would attract a young male audience not only due to the video game aspect to the opening sequence but also the idea of violence and guns is stereotypically what would attract a young male audience today.
